The recent luncheon fundraiser for Pine Lake Academy School was an enormous success and raised over $28,000. It was a sincere pleasure to inform you about Kodera, Kenya and the hopes and dreams of its community members.

The Hope and Dreams of a permanent school for Pine Lake Academy are close to becoming a reality As we move forward, we will continue to provide you with the progress of the building project. The current estimates have the cost of the school building at $100,000 and are subject to rising building costs in Kenya. Phase One of the projects will begin now with building of the elementary classrooms and a wing for administrative purposes. The building process in Kodera is very slow as they do not have access to large equipment and must rely on manual labor. This involves digging the foundation with shovels, creating ‘foundation gravel’ and tying wrought iron bars by hand.  The community must haul water from a distant water source to the school location. All of this, just for the foundation!

Thank you again for your interest in helping MERCY WALK create opportunity for the children of Kodera. This will surely bring change to their community and ultimately to Kenya! We are committed to this project and will provide communications of building milestones and regular updates/pictures via the Mercy Walk website. If you have any questions, we welcome the opportunity to provide further information.
